WIP BUT A BRIEF RUNDOWN OF THE PLOT.

- Once upon a time a force made of negative/unhealthy emotions called Malice threatened the universe! To stop it, a powerful magician created devices called Prisms, which harvest positive/healthy emotions and bonds between people and use them to both stave off Malice and provide clean energy. The Prisms were installed on 100 tiny planets called Stars, equally distributed across the universe. To keep them safe, a special Heart Prism was made, connected directly to the magician's soul. This magic gave her and anyone of her blood the power to purify Malice, but in exchange the stability of the Prisms was tied to her own mental state -- great power, great responsibility, and all that.

- For EONS, the magician's descendants were raised to carry on this responsibility. Over time a small kingdom built up on the Star holding the heart prism, and the current Prism mage became known as the Monarch of Hearts. Given their entire Thing was about creating a kind and emotionally competent family and culture, they were a pretty happy little kingdom for all that time, and made a lot of allies with other planets, who colonized the Prism Stars and did their part by keeping the devices safe from tampering.

- BUT SUDDENLY, the Prisms failed and Malice returned! At first it was unclear why, but it took over most of the universe in a matter of days, corrupting plants & animals and sending the souls of sapient beings off into a void, to float unconsciously presumably for eternity or until they faded into nothingness. Only the castle in the Star Kingdom remained, because the current Queen of Stars sacrificed her own life to create a purifying barrier around the castle (and thus the Heart Prism itself). The King couldn't handle her death, and in a fit of despair he became a Malicious monster himself!

- Cardamom was a 20 year old goofball prince when this went down. Before she died, his mother passed on the Prisms to him! In order to deal with the disaster, his first act was to form a Council of Knights from 12 important followers of himself or his parents who were at hand. But given all that was left of the universe was himself, the knights, and anyone who managed to take shelter in the castle, and he was young and inexperienced, Cardamom panicked. And here his timeline splits:

- In one timeline, Cardy & his knight and chief researcher Nettle came up with the idea to rescue powerful souls from the void, reconstitute their bodies, and send them out on a mission to purify the Prisms through expression of positive feelings and bonds! This resulted in [community profile] auroraexpress happening.

- In the other, Cardamom & the Council of Knights hypothesized that the failure of the Prisms had something to do with a critical level of pain & suffering on their Stars, and thus set out on their own to purify the Prisms by unraveling what had happened on each one. Their hypothesis proved partially true -- there had been a problem, but someone specifically had taken advantage of it to unleash Malice deliberately.

- The group was able to purify each Prism through investigating, dungeon runs, and friendship! ...Sort of. In truth, in order for the purification to be complete, Cardamom splintered a piece of his soul into every single one, without telling his friends at all! Because he's dumb. The whole journey took 5 years, because y'know. 100 planets worth of shit to unravel.

- In the end the group had to fight the final boss back at their own castle and whatnot. But in order to end everything, Cardamom gave over the final shard of his soul to the Heart Prism. This technically killed him (which made a lot of people very unhappy). In dying, however, he simply merged with the Prism network entirely, ascending to a sort of guardian spirit. This way, he could directly control and keep watch over the network, so it could never be sabotaged again. And it allowed him to end the royal line -- and thus, make it so no one else would ever have to bear that responsibility. The Kingdom itself was left in the hands of one of his knights, and everyone lived happily (read: severely traumatized but functional and alive) ever after, with Cardy watching over things.
